Menopause, whether it happens earlier in life (known as premature or early menopause) or later, brings with it a variety of skin changes due to fluctuations in hormones, particularly estrogen. These changes can affect skin texture, moisture, elasticity, and more. Understanding these shifts and adjusting your skincare routine accordingly can help you manage the impact menopause has on your skin—whether you're in your 30s, 40s, 50s, or beyond.
I personally started going through Menopause in 2017 at the age of 37, which was life changing. My menopause was classed as “Surgically Induced” Menopause” due to having Pre-Cancer Cells on my cervix, which meant I had to have a FAH which in itself was life saving.
Having to go through Menopause so early was definitely a shock, with no “Peri menopause” symptoms I felt in some respect lucky, as I know a lot of ladies struggle more with the lead up to it. However it didn't settle my panic and worries of how I was physically going to change (especially my skin!) However Tropic Skincare came to the rescue, I loved it that much that I became an Ambassador to share with others.
I knew I had to make some changes and fast, so this is where “Self Care” and having to educate myself became really important to me. I wanted to learn more about skincare, products, how to use on myself, what the benefits were of having facials and massages, and knowing what products were best for my skin. So I took the plunge and studied at college to become a fully qualified beauty therapist! Yes...I qualified!!
I now own a treatment room at home “Elms Botanicals” where I love treating my clients to holistic facials and massage. I have created a calm and safe place to relax / talk (if you need to, as I’m a good listener) more importantly it’s to take time out for you!
